A raw, uncut, unpolished gemstone shyly presents itself to the world as a rugged stone easily overlooked by the untrained eye. Mozambique Island in Nampula Province, better known to Portuguese speakers as Ilha de Moçambique, reminds me a lot of an emerald in the rough.
